The cloud then emerges in the gap between two realities: that of vapour, forever coming undone, and that of computation, made of grids and whole numbers. The image is no longer the trace of a sky but its reconstruction, a surface of calculation,
beautiful and unstable, where the real is no longer what we see but what we count.

Thousand of points in search of a form. Thousands of particles drift between pure geometries (cube, sphere, ring, triangle, lines), never settling into any of them. Each shape is only a transitional state, a hypothesis the system tests and abandons. Nothing here is drawn: every point is a coordinate, every figure a function, every movement a calculation. The sound drives the image. The music is by Ryoji Ikeda, Hakim's former teacher at Le Fresnoy, made of clicks, sine waves and pulses at the threshold of perception. The code listens to it frame by frame. Each attack forces a change of form, the low frequencies make the mass breathe, and the high frequencies accelerate its rotation. Image and sound share a single material, data. data-morph does not illustrate the music. It computes it into space, where form becomes a sound made visible and a number set in motion.

"pixel flow"
With pixel flow, the image is no longer the subject, nor the material. It becomes the algorithmic ground for two states: the imperceptible and turbulence. Here, it is the script that animates. It brings the image to life and follows its aesthetic conditions, without imposing any foreign form upon it. The excerpt shown is only one experiment with the script, which is meant to evolve..

To film fog is to record what erases, to capture the precise moment when the landscape withdraws and only light remains. The sequence ends with a photograph, and that is what remains. Of the fifteen seconds of duration, only a still image survives. The subject has vanished, and so has time. What endures is a non-landscape, a pure gradient the real has painted by itself.
